Cavener News

Bryan and I previously have documented nothing. From the last nine years we have no photos, no journals, nada. But now we're turning over a new leaf and we're hoping to use this as baby books for Jill and Peter.

Jill's 4 month stats

This post is copied from an email I wrote to Bryan's parents on August 9th, 2006.

Jill had her 4 month check up yesterday. She is now 24" long and she weighs 11 lbs 14 oz. She is pulling ahead on the growth charts! At her two month check up she was in the 1st percentile for weight (meaning 99 out of 100 babies weighed more than her) and the 6th percentile for length. Now she is in the 12th percentile for weight and the 36th percentile for length. Both her two and four month numbers are for her uncorrected age. The doctor was very impressed with her growth.

In the middle of her exam, while the Dr was putting her through the paces of checking her hips, neck strength, etc., she started to get a little frown on her face. Little did she know how bad it would get. She had immunizations and she cried so hard. Her little face just crumpled and big crocodile tears fell. It took me about 10 minutes to calm her down. She is such a trouper. Today she has been laying low and taking lots of naps to recover.

Oh, and the biggest news yet... Jill slept through the night last night! Hooray! I got my first uninterrupted night's sleep in well over 4 months. The Dr gave us the OK to let her sleep through yesterday. I expected Jill to awaken this morning grumpy and ravenous but when I came downstairs she was awake and happily inspecting her hands. She is so good natured.

The house is coming along. The appliances are being installed today and the water turned on. Jill's furniture for the nursery was delivered yesterday. It looked beautiful in her pretty yellow room. Thank you again for the paint job, Rich and Patty!

Finally, Becky's birthday was last Wednesday. We had a cookout of grilled swordfish with Becky, Yaka and the girls at my mom's house. Jacqui and I were on the porch and Jacqui said what a great party it was. I said, "I know, aren't we lucky to have the whole family together?" And Jacqui said, "Well, Patty's not here." So Ohio/Mississippi branch was missed.

I'm looking forward to traveling to Ohio in September and introducing Jill to her great grandparents.
