Cavener News

Bryan and I previously have documented nothing. From the last nine years we have no photos, no journals, nada. But now we're turning over a new leaf and we're hoping to use this as baby books for Jill and Peter.

Jill at 18 months

Jill had her 18 month check up and here are her stats. Jill is 33" tall (86th percentile) and 23lbs 12 oz (42nd percentile). I'm still shocked that our teeny tiny preemie is hanging in there in the 86th percentile for length! She is wearing 2T clothes already (they're a little big) and she is a big, strong girl!

Jill is so much fun. She loves to sing, dance, and count. Her rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star has gotten VERY good. She sings the whole song through and gets quite of few of the words right. She also gives the ABC song an honest try, ending with a perfect "Now I know my" before we have to fill in "ABCs!"

Jill has begun some imaginary play. I was sitting on the couch last week and she walked back and forth across the room, pretending to pick up something from the seat of the recliner before dropping it in my cupped hands. I also saw her sit her pink puppy in her rocker. She handed him her sippy cup and said, "Here you go!" and answered back for him, "Thank you!"

Jill says a few short phrases and sentences. She says: "Where'd it go?" with her palms raised upwards when a ball rolls under the couch, "Here you go!", "Good girl!", and "It's Daddy!" when the phone rings. And also, "I gotta puey?" when she has filled her diaper, and sometimes--to keep me guessing--when she hasn't. We have a picture of Dr Suess' "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" hanging above her changing table. She loves to stand on her changing table and point at the hot air balloons counting, "Two, three, four, six! Dr. Seuss!"

My mom has been teaching her an excellent trick. Mom has been spelling out the letters on her Ohio State sweatshirt so that now Jill says the letters "O - H - A - O" (she says "A" instead of "I"), followed by, "Ohio! Yay! Woo Hoo! Yes!" I am not even kidding. She says, "Ohio! Yay! Woo Hoo! Yes!" all together all the time. What a baby Buckeye!
