Ring around the Rosie
I'm so proud of my girl! Her vocabulary and personality are blossoming. About two weeks ago she started spooning her yogurt herself. Previously she'd get some food on her spoon and then turn it upside down on the way to her mouth, dumping the contents. Now if you put the spoon in her left hand she motors through the carton of yogurt.
Though last Monday we encountered some trouble. Jill usually likes to put Cheerios in her yogurt. She was in her high chair eating and Bryan dropped a couple of Cheerios into her yogurt cup. She got really angry yelling, "No Cheerios!" Then she jerked the spoon out of the yogurt coating the right side of her face. I heard the rucus and walked into the kitchen to see what was going on. All I could see was the clean left side of Jill's face. She was sobbing and saying ,"Made a mess! A mess!" And Bryan was laughing uncontrollably. Then I walked around and saw yogurt dripping from her hair, face, and eyelashes. I tried to calm her down and clean her up, but I couldn't stop laughing either.
Tonight I pulled her into my lap to read some books and as I opened to the first page of the Brown Bear book and she said, "Brown bear, brown bear, blah do I see?" I was astounded! She named a couple of pictures with me and then when we got to the last page (the one with all the animals) she pointed to every picture I asked her to identify and said "green frog" and "teacher" as she pointed. It's wonderful to see Jill use so many new words, phrases, skills after months of patiently reading to her and teaching her.
Some of my favorite things that Jill says right now are "Come?" when she wants us to pick her up and "Again?" when she wants us to repeat a song or game. She also says "Eat? Hungry?" as she tries to climb into her highchair and then says, "It's coming!" when she is trying to be patient waiting for the food to arrive. If she hears the toaster pop from anywhere in the house she comes running saying, "Toast? Toast? Have some?"
Jill also loves to play Ring around the Rosie and insists that everybody in the house participate. If Bryan's ready to play with her, she let's go of his hand and reaches out to me saying, "Mummy? Rosie? A rosie?" How could we say no? It's a lot of twirling though.
