Making Progress
We are making progress. On Tuesday Jill spent the entire day getting on and off the potty with very little production. I think that was the practice she needed because she wanted to be able to get to the potty herself. Jill now uses the potty three or four times a day. She runs to the potty and if I follow her she holds up a hand in a stop signal and says, "No, Mommy! You stay in the living room!" Then she sits down and does her thing yelling, "Mommy, I did tinkles/pueys!" when she is done.
Only then am I allowed back in the room. I inspect her goods, give her a high five, we wash our hands, and then she gets to choose two Jelly Belly candies. This part is a lot of fun. I have a tiny bowl full of them and Jill fingers through them, saying, "Ummmm, ummm, I want two pink ones!" or whatever colors she chooses.
Jill's still having some accidents. There was one spectacular accident in her Disney Princess underwear and I thought, "The princesses have never been treated like this before!" Overall though, she is doing a great job. Tonight she did tinkles on the potty and when I came in to help her get dressed she put both hands on my cheeks, and gave me eskimo kisses with a crazy grin. I have never given her an eskimo kiss before. She was inspired. I loved it!
Other things going on this week... Poor baby Peter is teething, big time. His two bottom teeth are coming in and he has had a pretty high fever on and off since Thursday night. He's very sad and we're not getting much sleep. These kids are so different. Jill was a serious baby. For her, popping each tooth was a 12 hour event. She'd be warm, snotty, and a little clingy but it was no big deal. Peter is usually a chubby barrel of laughs. He is so big and strong but these teeth are knocking him out! I hope he feels better soon.
Finally, one day during dance party time, Jill and I were jumping around to "Who Let the Dogs Out." About halfway through the song, Jill stopped and asked, "What about the cat?"

LOL @ "what about the cat?"
And great job Jill (and you!)!! Sounds like you're both making really good progress.
Poor Peter! Teething is the worst. :(
Hey Ronni! we are almost done teething here with Ian - and I was reading some of your old posts and noticed that Jill was premature too. I'm seeing big "catch ups" with Ian lately and soon we will be done with all the prematurity appointments thank goodness for that but I'm glad they are tracking him. Hi to Bryan too!
Jill, you are getting to be such a big girl! We are so proud of you! Peter, hang in there, little buddy! Your daddy had a tough time with the teething too.
Love all you so much,
Grammie and 'Pa
Of course Bryan had a hard time with teething, Patty! I'm starting to think all the big babies are wimps. :)
Allison, I've been checking in on Ian's progress on your blog. I'm so glad to see your preemie doing so well! It's nice to be at a point when we hardly ever think of Jill's early start. You have that to look forward to, too!
