If you want to nap, just ask.
Jill was really overtired this afternoon and in a foul mood. She asked me if she could watch a show and when I said no, she got really angry. She cried, told me I wasn't the boss, and tried to stare me down with a loathing expression in her eyes.
Finally, I said, "Jill, you may not talk to me like that. If you want to yell and cry you can do it in your room." I carried her upstairs to give her time to cool off and told her I'd be happy to come get her when she felt better.
We still have a child proof door knob on the inside of her bedroom door (though we keep her door open at night), so when I shut her door she started banging on it and tugging on the knob. Seconds later the door popped open. She silently handed me the broken child-proof knob and watched quietly while I put it back on the door.
When I was done, I shut the door and her tantrum resumed. It was like, "Timeout! I broke the door. OK, mom fixed it, I can yell again." She is hilarious. She really needed a nap, but wanted to make a good show of it. I've got to go wake her up.

That's so funny and you are so patient :) I love the way you write. It's almost like I can envision in my mind what happened.
