Cavener News

Bryan and I previously have documented nothing. From the last nine years we have no photos, no journals, nada. But now we're turning over a new leaf and we're hoping to use this as baby books for Jill and Peter.

Disco Bowling

We were supposed to meet a classmate of Jill's for bowling this afternoon but the plan fell through. But since I had said "bowling" to Jill earlier in the day, we had to follow through. At 5:30 we headed to the bowling alley and I thought we would play for a little while and then get pizza for dinner.

It was hilarious. It was "glow" bowling with music and flashing lights. I didn't know how into it the kids would be, and the answer was very into it! Peter knew exactly what to do. He grabbed ball after ball, sometimes two at a time (it was candle pin), and sent them on their way. The bumper rails kept any ball with enough mustard to go the distance on track. I had to stop him from charging down the lane after each ball.

Jill was pretty good. She'd roll the ball, yell excitedly for me to watch anything that looked like it would connect, and jump up and down saying, "I'm winning! I'm winning!" She was really sweet.

Bryan joined us after work and was able to bowl a little before we all went for pizza. It was a great way to end the week.

The other news... I bought two "Cars" matchbox cars this week, thinking, "One car for each kid, right?" Peter disagreed. His idea was, "One car for each hand. Mine!" So I bought two more cars specifically for Jill. The kids have been playing with them nonstop and, after I broke up one ferocious fight through which Peter tried to acquire all four cars, sharing nicely.

Peter thinks of nothing but his cars. He goes to bed crying that he has been separated from them and first thing in the morning he says in a stressed tone, "My cars." When they have been placed in his hands he says, "Thank you. I love you, Mumma."

The kids haven't seen the Cars movie yet. I'll have to save that for the next rainy day. Bryan did pick up a Cars themed video game and the kids love to play it with him. I'm about as good at it as Jill is. I always end up going in reverse.

Do you guys have the blu-ray Cars movie? Sounds like you had so much fun. Can't wait for Orlando. We love you all.
