Jill's Baptism and First Tooth
Jill's 8th month has been a lot of fun. She's enjoying solids and is still doing great with her sleep and naps. Jill is also working really hard to try and figure out how to crawl. She's spends a lot of time playing on her belly and she can drag herself around in circles very quickly to reach her toys. She looks like a gymnast on the pommel horse when she moves like that! She hasn't worked out how to move forward yet, but I think we'll get there soon. She really prefers walking. I'll be holding Jill in my lap and then turn her around and stand her on the floor to walk toward her dad. She lets out a squeal of delight and walks toward him very quickly (with my help for balance) snorting and sniffing all the way.
On December 10th Jill was baptized at Free Christian Church in Andover. It was fun to have her baptized with some of her baby friends from the cuddle corner on Sunday mornings and Mom to Mom. Jill was given a sweater knitted by some women at the church. My mom, Beck, Yaka and the girls, LeeAnne, Debster, the Kolias', and our small group were all there at the church and then we had an open house to celebrate with many of our friends. Our place was packed! We had a lot of food including ham, quiche, beans and Yaka's lasagna and the Christmas tree was up and decorated. The only tough part was that with all of the excitement, Jill refused to take her afternoon nap. We put her down and she cried her head off so we gave up and let her rejoin the party.
In other news, Jill cut her first tooth on December 18th. She had been chomping chomping chomping for a while and we had been expecting that tooth any day for about a month. But then on Monday morning Bryan was taking care of Jill while I was at a doctor's appointment. He said she wanted to be held ALL morning. Anytime Bryan tried to put her in her exersaucer or down on the floor to play she would whine and fuss. So Bryan held her and felt along her gums and there it was. All in all, I expected the first teething experience to be much worse, but I guess it's the molars they get later that are really painful. Jill's new tooth is one of her bottom front teeth and it looks a little crooked!
