Cavener News

Bryan and I previously have documented nothing. From the last nine years we have no photos, no journals, nada. But now we're turning over a new leaf and we're hoping to use this as baby books for Jill and Peter.

Baby Kitty Cat

Jill's alter ego is named "Baby Kitty Cat."  Jill runs around pretending to be a cat, meowing, and giving kitty cat kisses (she licks my hand).  I don't know!  I've never had a toddler before so I assume that all of this is normal.  It's mostly cute.  "Baby Kitty Cat needs some milk."  "Baby Kitty Cat is sad."   She only does it sometimes and she is imitating the Snuggle Kins toy she got for Christmas, but there are days when the meowing makes me feel like I've been transported to a psych ward.

This Saturday we went to the birthday party of one of Jill's classmates.  It was a really nice party at Polkadot Playhouse in Salisbury.  The facility was small and was closed for the party so I didn't have to track Jill every second.  There was an indoor jungle gym with a netted ladder that led to some high tunnels and a slide.  The slide was the intended way down and it was a really steep twisting tube slide.  A couple times during the party, Jill climbed up the ladder only to rethink going down the slide.  She then would climb back down the ladder which was tough to do.

With about 5 minutes left in the party, I saw Jill come rocketing down the slide.  I jumped up, clapped, and said, "Yay, Jill!  You did it!"  She stood up, looked around a little nervously and said, "Meow."

Bryan just read this and told me he actually encourages Jill to act like Baby Kitty Cat.  Great.  Now I'd like to lock him in the house with Baby Kitty Cat for 60 hours a week in the dead of winter!

The thing that was really fun about the party was that Jill and I went together.  I don't think I've been anywhere with just the two of us since Peter was born.  It's usually the three of us or four of us on the weekends when we go out.  She looked really beautiful dressed for the party and when we stopped to get a birthday card, she held my hand and ran through the parking lot saying, "Let's go, Mummy!  We don't want the cars to get us!"  She loved looking at all of the sparkly birthday cards and it was so fun to hang with my girl.

Payton hasn't done it in awhile, but she would pretend to be a puppy. Crawling on her hands and knees, begging, and barking. If you called her Payton she would get a little upset and say she was a puppy, not Payton. Good thing she chose to be a puppy and not a cat since Tina's alergic to cats! :)

Bryan's alter ego was Spiderman. Put him in his Spiderman underoos - it was on. Papaw, Uncle Chris, Uncle Mark and Uncle Tim got to see "the scrunchy nose sniff". They loved it.

Love lots,
Grammie and 'Pa

This is a wonderful post! Made my night! So funny and cute!
And cool memory Patty - I had Underoos, too! Wonder woman. Underoos were the best.
