Slippers
Jill and Peter need slippers for their preschool classrooms. Jill fell in love with hers and wore them to bed the night before she was to bring them to class. As we walked to school, Jill carried the slippers close to her chest. She cheerfully showed Ms. Pearson her new slippers and told her how she had slept with them on.
At pick up later that morning, Ms. Pearson motioned me to her and said quietly, "You're going to have to get another pair of those slippers. When I told Jill they had to stay here, she started to cry." I love that Ms. Pearson didn't try any other solutions like, "Can you explain to Jill those are her school slippers?" She was like, yeah, we're going to need more slippers here.
The slippers were last season's from Stride Rite, so they were very discounted and in low supply. Luckily when I went I went back that night I found one more pair in her size. I love that the kids can be so taken with something so simple. It's a fortunate time when I can pay $7 and set the world right again.
Here's a funny story about Peter. We got in the car on a muggy day this week. I said, "Oh, Peter! It's hot!" Peter said from the backseat, "Fft! I blow on the sun!" He was pretending to blow on the sun like he would a grilled cheese sandwich. He's a genius--the episode with the nut notwithstanding.

We still agree that he is a genius. I am so impressed with Jill's teacher in that she was so sensitive to Jill's needs. You don't find that quality everyday.
