Cavener News

Bryan and I previously have documented nothing. From the last nine years we have no photos, no journals, nada. But now we're turning over a new leaf and we're hoping to use this as baby books for Jill and Peter.

Oh no!

Is it June and I haven't written since February?  Waah!  I've missed documenting so many good things!  Well, I'm not going to write about it now because it's 11:30 and I need to do the dishes and go to bed.  And I guess this is why I haven't written in a while, Bryan has been working a 2:00-11:00PM shift at work for a few months and that has made things busy and tiring for both of us for a little while.  Praise the Lord, we are both holding up remarkably well but it doesn't leave much time for leisure activities like blogging, television (gasp!), or sleeping.

What can I say quickly about the kids before I do those dishes and crash for the night?  They're awesome.  Jill just lost her two front teeth and she is super cute with her gap and lisp.

Jill just finished her first year of dance classes where I discovered that she inherited from her Auntie Becky the habit of dancing with her tongue sticking out of her mouth.  It's so cute, and really like time travel to see it, the resemblance is uncanny.  Here is Jill (not dancing so tongue in mouth) and her classmate, Gabriella, at the dress rehearsal for their recital.  I love how brave six year-olds are.  They're about to dance onstage in front of an audience and they are nothing but excited.  Below is Peter at the serious business of watching ballet.

Jill is just weeks away from finishing kindergarten and I am so proud of all she's learned.  Her reading and writing are terrific.  She reads her brother bed time stories and loves to draw and do crafts.  She and Peter are fast friends.  They play together so nicely.  Sometimes it's trains or cars, sometimes "school", and today they made birds and a nest out of construction paper and played "baby birds" for about an hour.  I love their friendship.

Peter is still a funny guy, very animated and friendly.  Other than Jill, he loves to play with his "Buddy Ben" and he loves preschool.  He is starting to decode some short words like "dog" and "baby".  Swim lessons are a highlight of his week.  Jill works her tail off and he twirls grinning in his floaties yelling, "I'm doing it!  I'm swimming!"

Last week we had some pretty hefty landscaping equipment in the backyard.  Peter was in heaven!  Surrounded by the real life excavator and dump truck, he played all day (like 6 hours) with his cars and trucks on the porch.  I'll have to upload those pictures later.  Because now it's time for dishes and bed!
