Bryan and I previously have documented nothing. From the last nine years we have no photos, no journals, nada. But now we're turning over a new leaf and we're hoping to use this as baby books for Jill and Peter.

Peter's First Birthday

Peter is one today and he is the most amazing boy. We celebrated with my mom, Rich, and Patty. We tried to go to breakfast where it all began last year, but it was way too crowded. We packed the kids back up and made breakfast at Nana's house.

After breakfast we had Peter's cake and presents. It was an ice cream cake and Peter did not like the cold feel of it. He pulled his fingers back and said, "All done!" I had to get him started with a couple of spoonfuls to help him discover he was missing something good.

About Peter at one year... I don't think there has ever been a more lovable boy. He has a sweet face, a little gap between his teeth, and big wide feet! His shoes are sized double wide. His hair isn't coming in very thick yet, but that just makes him seem more like a baby, which I appreciate. He has quite a few words. He says all done, hi, bye, mumma, dada, nana, pa pa, yay (with claps), weee, woof, meow, cheese, please, and keys. He says "Uh-up! And down," scrunching down in his high chair, plus "ABCD" when he hears the alphabet song, and my very favorite is his, "No no no!" which is said with his index finger wagging. He also says combinations like, "Hi Dada," and "Hi Pa Pa," and fakes sneezes and kisses.

He is a very happy baby. He eats a ton (half a ham sandwich and fruit for lunch), plays well independently, and loves to get his hands on our electronics. His biggest laughs though come from playing in the waves at the beach and wrestling with Jill. I can't believe I've already had to say, "Peter, don't hurt your sister!"

Peter tolerates the lovey dovey stuff from the women, but he really likes hanging with the boys. He's crazy about his dad and his Pa. He still wakes at 5:30 every morning which is tough, but he has come a long way in the sleep department. My mom just told me that whenever she looks at Peter she thinks of John Lennon's song, "Beautiful Boy." I found it on youtube and now it's Peter's theme song to me, too.

I've got pictures and a video to upload later, but...

Happy Birthday, Pete!

I just wanted to add that we had Peter's well baby visit yesterday (8/6) and he measured 31.5" (93%) and 23 lbs 12.5 oz (66%). He cried his head off over the gentle examination with the stethoscope, but recovered pretty quickly from his shots. Those were crocodile tears!

I agree with Peter's theme song. When Bryan was a baby his song was: You Are So Beautiful to Me by Joe Crocker. I still feel that way to this day.

Love, Grammie &'Pa aka Patty & Rich
